Prachi Verma (she/her) is a medical student at the UC Davis School of Medicine and is a recent graduate in Global Disease Biology at UC Davis. She strives to integrate community organizing for health equity and anti-oppression praxis into her health career. Prachi has dedicated herself to supporting her peers and colleagues in developing their own critical lenses by creating and teaching courses in the Asian American Studies department, leading Anti-Racism Workshops, and researching, developing, and implementing novel inclusive curricula in One Health courses at UC Davis. Prachi’s lived experiences with disability in social, educational, and healthcare contexts have driven her critical lens of pedagogy and conventional healthcare and public health practices. These perspectives combined with a deep desire for healing and reflection influence her writing and advocacy work. In the past year, Prachi has been honored with numerous awards in recognition of her exemplary commitment to social justice and service. Photography challenges me to seek different angles and perspectives of a single subject. Every time I pick up my camera, I try to develop an innovative vision. In a similar way, photography reminds me to find fresh, new approaches to my day-to-day challenges. Over the past few years, I’ve learned over and over again the importance of taking breaks, no matter how small.
I enjoy various styles of writing including creative writing, academic writing, and reflective writing. I've linked some professional writing samples in this section.
